One UI 7 could bring App Lock feature

Google is running the Android 15 public beta program and it is expected to become stable later this year, with Pixel phones being the first to receive it. Samsung’s One UI 7 based on Android 15 is expected to release in August with the Galaxy S24. A recent report suggests that the One UI 7 update is expected to bring a basic, but much-needed security feature, App Lock, to Samsung devices.

As Android 15 is slowly approaching its stable channel, many Android partners have started working on incorporating some of the best possible functionality into their custom UI, and Samsung is no exception. Meanwhile, it appears that Samsung may add a new security feature to the many previous privacy and security measures including Auto Blocker, Samsung Pass, Secure Folder, and Private Share.

Reliable tipster Tarun Vats (@tarunvats33) has now suggested that Samsung could bring a simple App Lock feature with One UI 7 is currently missing from Samsung’s One UI software for smartphones and tablets.

According to the information, the feature appears to be a new option called App Lock, and it is listed below the Dual Messenger feature in the Advanced Features section of the Settings app.

On the other hand, Samsung’s software engineers may be busy with the upcoming One UI 6.1.1 update. The One UI 7 update is expected to be released a few weeks after the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6. Then, the company will be busy preparing and testing the Android 15-based One UI 7.0 update and launch of the upcoming Galaxy S25 series.

The next One UI update will reportedly bring several new Galaxy AI features to eligible high-end phones. The One UI 7.0 update is also expected to bring several new operating system-level features to Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
