A fortunate X/Twitter user appears to have gained early access to a device running Samsung’s One UI 7.0 upgrade, which is based on Android 15. Over the past few days, they have been giving brief updates regarding One UI 7. It’s the same today.
The most recent disclosure from @chunvn8888 uses Android’s color palette functionality to apply a custom theme to the icons on the home screen and app drawer. What’s more, the app drawer’s new bottom search bar is visible. The option to display the app drawer search bar at the bottom of One UI 7 is not new information. However, it looks like this is the first time it’s been used.
It’s not apparent if the search bar has relocated to the bottom bar permanently. One of Samsung’s main objectives when it developed the initial One UI version back in 2018 was to make the device easy to use with one hand, so the bottom location makes sense for that.
But it would be great to have a way to alternate between the top and bottom locations. One UI 7 will bring additional updates to the One UI launcher. The labels for widgets and app icons on the home screen and app drawer can be turned off by Samsung.
Additionally, Samsung is updating the iconography for its own apps; nevertheless, the corporation may not have appreciated how this change has been received. Additionally, several upgrades to the lock screen are planned.
Later this year, One UI 7.0 will be open for beta testing with all of its modifications. The beta program was supposed to begin on July 29 but has been postponed. This is probably because Samsung hasn’t even released One UI 6.1.1 to current devices after it debuted on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6.
