Prior to the release of these smartphones, we discovered that Samsung planned to provide the One UI 6.1.1 upgrade for older Galaxy phones and tablets, bringing some of the new Galaxy AI features to those devices as well. We now have official confirmation from the brand regarding it, along with the release schedule.
Annika Bizon, Director of MX Division for the UK and Ireland at Samsung’s Omnichannel Strategy, stated during the Galaxy Unpacked event: “We also plan to roll out the new Galaxy AI features we announced today to select Galaxy devices by the end of the year.” Stated differently, One UI 6.1.1 will be available for compatible devices by December 2024.
Additionally, according to Samsung’s website, the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Z Fold 5 of smartphones are compatible with some of the Galaxy AI features seen in the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. Although that is untrue, we believe the business is attempting to convey that certain phones are qualified for the upcoming release of the new Galaxy AI features.
All of the new Galaxy AI features of One UI 6.1.1 on the newest foldable phones should be available on the Galaxy S24 series smartphones, as they share the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy Z Flip 6. Some functions may be available only on older devices, such the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Galaxy Z Flip 5.
