Qualcomm has confirmed that this year’s Snapdragon Summit will be held in Hawaii from October 21 to 23. At this event, the brand will likely introduce the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. Meanwhile, Ming-chi Kuo a well-known industry analyst, has envisioned a price hike in the next Qualcomm chip. As per Kuo analysis, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will see a 25 to 30% price hike than its predecessor. The price of devices like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra may hike as it uses Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset is likely to be used in the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. The Galaxy series will introduce two distinct versions of the same chipset for the US and China markets, and other regions like Europe and Asia may get access to this chip utilization.
As per analyst Kuo reports the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is priced at $190 to $200. Consequently, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip will give a price hike to the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Samsung managed the prices of this year’s flagship but this is unlikely for the upcoming models.
The core reason behind the price escalation is the shift to a 3nm process node. Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon mobile platform will utilize TSMC’s latest N3E node. Moreover, the introduction of AI is another factor influencing the price hike.
