Google’s Android 15 is set to improve the user experience with significant battery life increases across all systems. The Android 15 update announced at Google I/O 2024 promises up to 3 additional hours of standby battery time on some devices. This improvement is based on faster activation of the power-saving Android feature, Doze Mode.

As you may know, Doze Mode has been a part of Android 6.0, and with the latest version of Android, Android 15, eligible devices will enter this mode 50% faster than before. This change helps phone users he will use less power when they’re not being used for longer battery life.

Although Wear OS 5 based on Android 15 will also benefit from related battery optimizations. Google originally said that running a marathon on the smartwatch would consume 20% less power on Wear OS 5 compared to Wear OS 4. Besides, One UI 7.0 based on Android 15 could increase the battery life of Galaxy phones by 3 extra hours of standby.

Google focuses on enhancing Android’s core features to ensure all devices upgrading to Android 15 such as Honor, iQOO, Lenovo, Nothing, OnePlus, OPPO, Realme, Sharp, Tecno, vivo, and Xiaomi will enjoy a 3-hour longer standby battery power feature.

Recently, Google released Android 15 Beta 2 for Pixel devices during the second day of its I/O 2024 event. The beta version comes with a number of enhancements and features to improve user privacy and device functionality.

As per the Android Authority, Dave Burke, vice president of engineering for the Android platform, said,

“For Android 15, we’ve sped up the time to doze (doze is when we go into a quiesce state) by 50%. So we get into doze 50% faster, and the result is on some devices we tested up to 3 hours longer standby power. And that’s sort of a general improvement in 15 that applies to all devices.”
