At the beginning of the year, Samsung announced the One UI 6.1 software update with the all-new Galaxy S24 series, bringing new Galaxy AI experiences to everyone. Now, the Korean tech giant is preparing to launch the One UI 6.1.1 software update specifically for devices with larger screens. Meanwhile, we are talking about the upcoming flagship Samsung One UI 7.0 custom skin, which will be based on Android 15.
Google’s Pixel phones received the first developer preview of Android 15 in February 2024 and the first beta in April 2024. The new operating system will be limited to the Pixel lineup as of I/O, whereas, Samsung will open its own beta program – One UI 7.0 – sometime in August 2024 for Galaxy devices. The upcoming Android release promises security, performance, and camera enhancements for all the latest Android phones. However, there are chances that Google is still keeping some features under wraps.
Samsung’s One UI 6.1 is the latest Galaxy skin based on the Android 14 operating system. Samsung One UI 7.0 powered by Android 15 will debut on many Samsung devices later this year. One UI 6.1.1 is the upcoming Galaxy skin based on Android 14. Samsung is preparing to launch One UI 7.0 powered by Android 15, which will debut on multiple Galaxy devices later this year. Although it’s still early 2024, we already know which Galaxy devices are eligible and ineligible for Android 15.
Google released Android 15 Public Beta 1 in April 2024 and Public Beta 1.2 also started in late April 2024. Around I/O 2024, Android vendors like Xiaomi, OPPO, and OnePlus will also initial Public Beta for their flagships, while Samsung will start sometime in August 2024 for Galaxy devices.
The first One UI 7.0 beta will be available for the Samsung Galaxy S series flagships, the Galaxy S24 series, in August this year. Additionally, Samsung will be expanding its beta activity to some of its older lineups, including but not limited to the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Samsung One UI 7.0 Released timeline expected
Based on Android 15, Samsung One UI 7.0 for Galaxy devices will arrive in the second half of 2024. A more specific release timeline will be revealed as we get closer to the Android 15 release. Samsung will likely give users a chance to test One UI 7.0 before the official rollout through a beta program, which may go live sometime in August after Android 15 is stable. The stable rollout for flagship Galaxy EVs can be expected later this year.

The rumor mill is talking about specific One UI 7.0 features, but that’s forcing us to dream bigger. Considering the increasing use of AI across devices, especially in One UI 6.1, it’s a safe bet that One UI 7.0 will continue exploring the potential of Generative Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
