Google has kicked off the Android 15 Beta 3.1 update, this time with some notable fixes for the lock screen unlock issue. On the flip side, the firmware makes its way to the Pixel devices with the latest June 2024 security patch.
Unlike other Android 15 beta builds, the 3.1 version is a minor update with a few fixes for Pixel smartphones that come with system improvements and fixes.
Improving the respective section, Google pushed off the 3.1 beta update with the AP31.240517.031 version. Google posted the release notes stating that fix for lock screen touch Unlock and other issues that were impacting system stability, connectivity, and audio quality.
Alongside fixes, the Pixel phone owners will get the benefits of the June 2024 security patch as well. You can check the changelog below.
Android 15 Beta 3.1 (AP31.240517.031) that includes the following fixes:
- Fixed issues that caused the lock screen to intercept touch input and prompt the user to unlock the device, even when interacting with elements on the lock screen that don’t require the device to be unlocked. (Issue #348101427, Issue #345873537)
- Fixed an issue that sometimes caused biometric face authentication to fail.
- Fixed various other issues that were impacting system stability, connectivity, and audio quality.

It’s a big development as Google revealed that Beta 3 takes the new OS to the Platform Stability milestone. Those who have already enrolled in the Android 15 Beta Program are obtaining the 3.1 firmware over the air. However, users can even check the new version under Settings > System followed by the System Update option.
It is worth noting that you must have enough battery life and storage space to install the beta update. Also, the download process will be fast but the installation may take some time depending on your device and region. Being a beta development, it is natural to find bugs and issues on the device.
