Google Messages is preinstalled on the newest foldable smartphones from Samsung. The rationale for this change on Galaxy devices has finally been disclosed by the firm. To encourage RCS usage, Samsung claims that Google Messages superseded Messages. A source reportedly provided an explanation for Samsung’s choice to make Google Messages the default messaging app, as reported by AndroidAuthority.

Google Messages is pre-installed on the newly announced Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 devices, with RCS enabled. It appears that encouraging the use of Google Messages on Galaxy handsets will increase RCS uptake. Newer phones do not come pre-installed with Samsung Messages. One is preventing you from downloading it from the Galaxy Store to your Galaxy, though.

The finest user experience can be found in Google Messages, even though many other apps support RCS. The goal of making it the default chat app is to increase RCS tech adoption. Additionally, Apple is getting ready to add RCS chat support to iPhone iMessage.

What Samsung source said:

Even if messaging apps follow the RCS standard, the availability may be limited depending on which app the other party uses. That’s why we decided to make Google Messages the common messaging platform, allowing Galaxy users to communicate more freely. This also enables a messaging app to respond to changes of the RCS standard more quickly and efficiently.

In the past, Samsung smartphones released in the US included two messaging programs. The Samsung Messages have been deleted by the firm this time. Users are informed that Google Messages is the default messaging app during the initial setup.
